Kamino CEO Michael Weisz Outlines Vision for $KMNO Token
All value accrues to the Kamino Foundation
- Published:
Michael Weisz, Kamino’s new CEO, has published an open letter to $KMNO tokenholders, explaining the role of the asset and its relationship to the Kamino Foundation.
Alongside giving holders a clear description of $KMNO’s value proposition, Weisz forecasted Kamino’s multi-year vision. Leveraging the breakout growth of Solana’s RWA sector, Kamino aims to reach over $50B in concurrent loans by 2030.
Amidst choppy markets, newfound clarity of $KMNO has been well-received by markets, with the asset gaining 12% on a daily timeframe.
One Token, One Foundation
Kamino CEO Michael Weisz is already making his presence felt, outlining his vision for $KMNO and giving tokenholders some clarity over what the asset itself represents. After years of tokenholder rights being a murky grey area across the wider crypto industry, Kamino has solidified its one token, one foundation approach.
In an open letter addressed to the $KMNO community, Weisz affirmed the relationship between $KMNO and the Kamino Foundation. According to the letter, the Kamino Foundation is the sole entity presiding over all Kamino’s intellectual property and revenues, both onchain and offchain.
In turn, the Kamino Foundation is responsible for funding everything the OG Solana lending market builds. Unlike many crypto projects, which detractors would argue have abused the opaque dual token-equity ownership model for many years at the expense of crypto investors, the Kamino Foundation has no shareholders, members, or beneficiaries.
“KMNO is central to how I think about alignment, capital allocation, and my own role at Kamino… There is one foundation, there is only KMNO.” - Michael Weisz, Kamino CEO
Additionally, Weisz asserted that some of his and the wider Kamino team’s $KMNO allocations are now subject to the asset reaching FDV milestones. This mechanic inherently aligns the interests of team members and tokenholders, driving value accrual to the $KMNO. While not making any concrete commitments to other popular value accrual techniques, Weisz suggested that Kamino may introduce token buybacks in the future.

Industry experts and reputable investors have championed the approach, with Moonrock Capital founder Simon Dedic reinforcing the belief that $KMNO holders now accrue 100% of any value created by the company.
Kamino Targets $50B in Loans by 2030
Beyond reaffirming $KMNO’s underlying value, Weisz also outlined the Solana lending protocol's long-term vision. Having already established a strong lead as the Solana DeFi’s biggest credit market for RWAs, Weisz expects tokenization to help drive the venue to new heights.

According to Weisz, Kamino projects the tokenized RWA market could swell to as large as $2.3T by 2030, marking a 5,700% increase from today’s $39B.

Already Solana’s largest lending market for onchain credit and tokenized equities, Kamino is ideally positioned to capture the lion’s share of capital inflows. Based on the firm’s projections, Weisz argues that by 2030 Kamino could reasonably expect to facilitate over $50B in onchain loans, a 50-fold increase on today’s numbers.
$KMNO Up 12% on Daily Amidst Choppy Week
Against a backdrop of U.S. midterm elections and cybersecurity disasters, crypto markets have expressed plenty of volatility. After trending downwards for much of the week, Weisz’s letter appears to have breathed confidence into $KMNO’s price action.

Since affirming the token’s role and relationship to the Kamino Foundation, $KMNO has climbed over 12% to currently exchange hands at $0.033.
