The June 2025 Syndica "Deep Dive" report outlines the expanding footprint of Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) on Solana. The report provides a data-rich overview of various protocols that utilize Solana's infrastructure, highlighting significant advancements in revenue generation, connected device deployment, and user participation across wireless, compute, mapping, and environmental sectors.

Data from Artemis Analytics corroborates the findings presented in Syndica’s report. DePIN appears to be crypto's best-performing sector over the past week, excluding NFT applications, with DePIN tokens experiencing a 17.6% increase in FDV.

Solana: DePIN's New Home

Solana has emerged as the new hub for DePIN protocols since 2022, with the chain claiming 9 of the last 20 DePIN token launches with a market cap above $10 million, surpassing Ethereum as the leading DePIN platform.

Since early 2023, Solana DePIN protocols have more than tripled the number of connected devices, now totaling 2.3 million. This growth is accompanied by an increase in developer activity, as measured by GitHub commits, pull requests, and code reviews. The migration of Helium to Solana and the launch of multiple new protocols have significantly expanded developer engagement.

Record-Breaking Revenues in 2025

DePIN projects on Solana collectively earned $716,000 in June, setting a year-to-date high. The platforms tracked include Helium, Render, Hivemapper, UpRock, NATIX, and XNET. Cumulative on-chain revenue for the year has now surpassed $3 million. These figures only include verifiable data based on token burns or similar on-chain revenue indicators.

Wireless Sector Sees Strong Momentum

Wayru, a decentralized WiFi network on Solana, onboarded more than 1,500 devices in 2025 alone, issuing NFTs for each new deployment. Dabba, another key player, more than doubled its connected devices and tripled bandwidth consumption from January to June. Token burns on Dabba increased from $134,000 to $348,000 over the same period.

Helium Mobile recorded $1.5 million in on-chain revenue this year, driven by a surge in data offloading and user subscriptions. The average daily offload subscriber count climbed to nearly one million, while data volume set new monthly highs.

XNET also reported record levels of daily data offload, reaching 931 gigabytes. Its contributor count remained stable, indicating a mature and active network. Meanwhile, Roam surpassed five million cumulative WiFi setups, adding 348,000 new setups in June alone.

Growth in Compute, AI, and Data

Several compute-focused DePIN projects also showed marked growth. Shaga, an interactive streaming platform, hit all-time highs in both stream count and stream hours. Nosana completed over 766,000 jobs, with monthly averages rising 78 percent compared to late 2024.

Grass reported scraping nearly 150 million gigabytes of data in the first half of the year, while io.net doubled its monthly revenue to $2.5 million.

Mapping Networks Drive Contributor Activity

Mapping protocols experienced significant growth in both participation and revenue. NATIX posted a 72 percent jump in revenue for June, alongside a 71 percent rise in active contributors while nearly doubling rewards. Hivemapper's monthly burn rate rose 81 percent, generating $114,000 year-to-date. The platform also maintained approximately 6,000 monthly active contributors and mapped 139 million kilometers in the first half of the year. Wingbits expanded its network to over 4,000 live stations and recorded over 13 billion daily data points.

Environmental Impact and Renewable Generation

The environmental segment of Solana DePIN also showed consistent growth. Sourceful, a renewable power network, recorded rising energy production from device owners for the seventh consecutive month, reflecting both user growth and ongoing operational scaling.

Conclusion: A Diverse and Expanding DePIN Landscape

When even emerging protocols like Ping Network see a surge in activity, reaching 350,000 active nodes within the first two months, it becomes clear that Solana is quickly establishing itself as the new hub for DePIN protocols.

The June 2025 data confirms Solana's growing role as a primary platform for DePIN development. Its infrastructure supports diverse use cases ranging from wireless connectivity to environmental sustainability. While revenue and activity levels vary by sector, the overall trend points to growing engagement, innovation, and value creation within Solana's DePIN ecosystem.
