Helium, a Solana-based DePIN project, continues its prolific growth trajectory in 2025. After delivering the world’s first free mobile plan earlier this year, Helium has announced its collaboration with telco giant AT&T.
The world’s third-largest telecommunications company by revenue, AT&T will leverage Helium’s distributed network of internet hotspots to power greater connectivity throughout America.
With over 117M wireless subscribers, AT&T’s adoption of the Helium network could bring unprecedented demand for data services.
AT&T Partners with Helium
On April 24, AT&T announced its collaboration with Helium, leveraging the Solana DePIN protocol’s distributed network of mobile hotspots to boost coverage and enhance services across America.
Helium’s partnership with AT&T, a telecommunications company with over 117M subscribers, signals a turning point for DePIN growth and acceptance. After monopolizing connectivity for years, traditional telcos are now turning to DePIN systems to improve their coverage and services, empowering contributors at unprecedented scale.
“Working with AT&T is a massive step forward in our mission to bring affordable and accessible connectivity to the masses. Teaming up with such a global leader in the industry allows us to rapidly accelerate the adoption of Helium and provide real-world value to both AT&T and its subscribers. This is only the beginning of our journey that will transform the future of connectivity.” - Amir Haleem, Co-founder of Helium and CEO of Helium Mobile.
Beyond extending mobile coverage for subscribers, the partnership will also provide AT&T with enhanced data coverage, providing the firm with transparent, actionable insights that will help achieve wider, more reliable services.
However, AT&T isn’t the first Telco giant to embrace Helium’s people-powered network. In February, Helium joined forces with Movistar to bring DePIN-based mobile connectivity to over 2.3M subscribers throughout Mexico.
According to Helium World, the network now services between 650k-800k users every day, up from around 263k on January 1st, 2025. The Helium Network now transmits over 23.61 TBs of carrier offload data, driving value to Helium’s native token, $HNT, via its mint-and-burn data credit model.
Helium Daily Subscribers Hits New All-Time High
Helium’s increasing number of traditional telco collaborations is further supplemented by the growth of its own mobile services. After introducing the world’s first free mobile plan earlier this year, Helium’s subscriber count has exploded, netting new all-time high daily signups.
Similarly, Helium’s mobile hotspot deployment has exploded in 2025. With over 93k hotspots live and operational, deployment is up over 179% YTD.
Helium’s recent victories are not limited to online connectivity alone. On April 11, the SEC dismissed its outstanding lawsuit against the DePIN protocol’s parent company, Nova Labs, which claimed Helium used its network to distribute unregistered securities.
