Sol Strategies Inc., a Canadian investment firm focused on the Solana ecosystem, has ramped up its aggressive SOL accumulation by purchasing an additional 24,374 SOL between January 31 and February 7. This latest acquisition, valued at approximately CAD $7.3 million (USD $5.05 million), was made at an average price of CAD $298.64 per SOL (USD $207.33).

This purchase follows Sol Strategies' earlier acquisition of 40,300 SOL in late January for around CAD $14.3 million (USD $9.9 million). The company also secured 6,564 SOL through a private placement of convertible debenture units, further boosting its holdings. The pattern of consistent, sizable purchases suggests that Sol Strategies is now buying SOL on a near-weekly basis, drawing comparisons to MicroStrategy's aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy.

As of February 7, 2025, Sol Strategies and its subsidiaries hold a total of 214,342 SOL, acquired at an aggregate cost of approximately CAD $55.6 million (USD $39.5 million). At press time, with SOL trading at USD $203 per SOL, the company's SOL holdings are valued at approximately CAD $62.2 million (USD $43.5 million).

Beyond direct purchases, Sol Strategies continues to strengthen its footprint within the Solana network through validator operations and increased staking activity. The firm's aggressive buying spree highlights growing institutional confidence in Solana as a core digital asset, positioning SOL as a strategic treasury reserve for the company.

Is Sol Strategies Creating Its Own 'Infinite Money Glitch'?

Sol Strategies' aggressive buying spree raises intriguing questions about whether the company is adopting a playbook similar to MicroStrategy's Bitcoin strategy, often referred to as the "infinite money glitch." By consistently raising capital and using financial instruments like convertible debentures to fund SOL acquisitions, Sol Strategies is banking on sustained SOL price growth and SOL staking yield to outpace its funding costs. The key question now is whether this approach is sustainable in the long term and if Sol Strategies can maintain this aggressive accumulation strategy as effectively as MicroStrategy did with Bitcoin.
