Psy Protocol Connects Dogecoin and Solana With First Trustless Bridge

Psy develops the first trustless bridge from Dogecoin to Solana, connecting two of crypto’s most active communities.

Psy (formerly QED Protocol) has built a trustless bridge connecting Dogecoin to the Solana blockchain. This development brings Proof of Work (PoW) security to Solana and makes Dogecoin, the world’s largest memecoin, accessible across Solana’s growing ecosystem of dApps.

This move comes amidst a broader trend: after Bitcoin on Solana gained momentum, more chains and assets are looking to tap into Solana’s deep liquidity and active user base. We’ve seen Bitcoin trading volume on Solana hitting a new all-time high of $3.45 billion, as well as Zeus Network’s $zBTC supply exploding 153% in one week, all signaling that Solana is becoming a hub for non-native assets.

Psy’s bridge allows the Solana and Dogecoin blockchains to communicate directly, enabling each to independently verify the other's transactions and consensus, all without requiring trust in third parties.

As the uncontested home for memecoins, Solana is the perfect host for crypto’s largest memecoin, and it’s only fitting that Dogecoin is coming to Solana. Apart from enhanced security, the opportunities this innovation makes available are endless. Solana’s massive community gaining access to Dogecoin’s $35B+ market cap opens up fresh possibilities for both networks. Dogecoin users also gain access to Solana’s DeFi, NFT, and gaming applications, while Solana developers can tap into Dogecoin’s sizable user base.

In April 2025 alone, over $450 million worth of assets were bridged from other blockchains to Solana, highlighting the critical importance of security during these transfers to prevent potential loss of funds. Unlike traditional bridges that depend on multisig signers or custodians, Psy’s next-generation Proof of Work technology directly validates Dogecoin’s Proof of Work consensus on Solana. This trust-minimized design addresses one of crypto's biggest vulnerabilities: bridge hacks, which have already resulted in over $2.8 billion in losses.

What Psy and Solana Leaders Are Saying

We have been working hard to find ways to better serve the Doge community, and now we get the chance to offer them even greater utility for their Dogecoin,” Carter Feldman, CEO of Psy Protocol, said. “This demonstrates the promise of combining best-in-class security with user demand and an established developer base.

Lily Liu, President of the Solana Foundation, echoed the same sentiment: “We’re thrilled to announce the DOGE bridge to Solana, a big step in welcoming one of crypto’s most iconic communities to the Solana ecosystem. DOGE, Bitcoin’s beloved pet, embodies the fun, irreverent spirit that drives on-chain culture. By bridging DOGE into Solana’s network, we’re inviting the Dogecoin community—and all OG crypto enthusiasts—to join us in marrying onchain culture and decentralized finance.

How Does the Bridge Work?

The bridge captures and verifies each Dogecoin block header directly on Solana. These headers contain key blockchain data, such as the previous block hash, timestamp, difficulty target, Merkle root of all transactions, and the Proof of Work consensus, allowing the system to cryptographically confirm the validity of Dogecoin transactions without relying on intermediaries.

When users send $DOGE to the bridge, it verifies the deposit on the Dogecoin blockchain and mints an equivalent amount of $QDOGE tokens on Solana. To redeem $DOGE, users burn their $QDOGE tokens on Solana. The bridge then uses Wormhole’s cross-chain messaging protocol to securely transmit the withdrawal request, triggering the release of the original $DOGE to the user’s Dogecoin address.
