Doodles Confirms $DOOD Airdrop Eligibility Criteria and TGE Date

$DOOD hits Solana’s onchain markets on May 9th.

After much speculation, Ethereum NFT giant Doodles has confirmed more details surrounding its eagerly-awaited memecoin launch.

True to its promise, Doodles is welcoming pockets of the Solana ecosystem into its brand through $DOOD’s “New Blood” allocation.

Which Solana communities have made the cut, and can $DOOD avoid the disappointing price action that has plagued other NFT-coin launches?

Who’s Eligible for a $DOOD Airdrop?

Taking a leaf out of Pudgy Penguin’s playbook, Doodles offered an olive branch to existing Solana communities and promised them an allocation of $DOOD tokens at launch. As part of $DOOD’s “New Blood” allocation, 13% of the token’s supply will be distributed to pockets of the Solana ecosystem.

Unlike Pudgies, who sought to put $PENGU in as many wallets as possible, Doodles has taken a far more selective approach. $DOOD airdrop eligibility has been reserved for niche Solana contributors.

Through its careful selection of recipients, it appears Doodles is trying to align directly with the power users of specific applications. One could argue that instead of trying to please everyone, Doodles has identified select groups of users who are more likely to contribute positively to the brand’s Solana expansion.

Doodles official “New Blood” allocation checker is expected to go live in the coming days. With eligibility taken care of, all eyes now turn to the $DOOD TGE, which has been scheduled for May 9. $DOOD has secured several critical CEX listings ahead of launch, including Binance futures markets.

Will $DOOD Repeat NFT-Coin Launch Trend?

Despite the excitement for another large-scale liquidity event for the network, expectations leading up to the launch aren’t favorable for Doodles. NFT-memecoins have typically struggled to hold their value following launch, with the price charts of coins like $PENGU, $ANIME, and $CULT painting a sorry picture.

However, social media commentators have suggested that Doodles’ more selective airdrop eligibility criteria could help it to break this curse.

By distributing tokens to what Doodles assumes to be more exclusive recipients, $DOOD may avoid the TGE-dumping that is commonplace among large scale airdrops.

SolanaFloor engaged Doodles Head of Strategy Austin Hurwitz for further clarity on how the NFT brand intended to avoid bearish price action at launch. At press time, Hurwitz has not been available for comment.
